Youth Volunteer Corps of Hampton Roads CANstructure Competition
What is a CANstructure? A canstructure is a unique work of art that is created by collecting hundreds of canned food items, which are then used to design and build a 3-dimensional structure that relates to this year’s theme: Oh, the Places You'll Go!
Teams in grades K-12 are invited to design and build CANstructures that will help feed vulnerable members of our community while bringing awareness to the issue of food insecurity. A CANstructure is a unique work of art that is created by collecting hundreds—sometimes thousands!—of canned food items, which are then used to engineer a 3-dimensional structure that relates to this year’s theme, "Oh, the Places You’ll Go!" Middle and high school students will build and present their structures at Patrick Henry Mall on Saturday, April 26th; elementary teams will present their CANstructures at their schools the week prior.
Awards for all 3 competition levels (elementary, middle & high) will be announced at Center Court on 4/26 at 2:30pm at Patrick Henry Mall.
